What a woppaaa.
Excitement in the village yesterday. This turned up at 8am. It had two escort vans with it. Total weight 80 tonnes. It was parked up on the road for over four hours while it waited for the police to come and assist at the end of it's journey. It had been travelling from Devon for two days. The police eventually arrived to move some parked cars so that the load could be transported to it's delivery point.
I got this information from the driver of course. Me being nosey and wanting any excuse to talk trucks.
The area around here is covered by weight limits. Trucks must come and go along the designated routes. Most of the drivers have been forewarned of the legal route they must take. This one got it right and was in the right place.
I sat outside the pub chatting to friends. It looked like nothing was going to move just yet. When I went round the corner to check on it I was amazed to see it had disappeared. Where to I do not know. It would have had to go back the same way it came. So my opportunity to take some more amazing photo's as it carefully inched it's way round some bends, was lost. How disappointing.
You have to agree it's a very photogenic outfit. Great paint job on the Scania tractor unit.
Excitement over. I wonder if it will come back and have another attempt at the final part of the journey. I doubt it. The paperwork for these types of loads takes a while to be processed. They have to move on the dates specified on the documents.
Have a good Bank Holiday weekend. Toodle pip. ilona
