On the 6th and 9th August 1945, the United States - with the consent of the United Kingdom - detonated two nuclear weapons over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing between 129,000 and 226,000 people. I have shared this piece of work by artist, Isao Hashimoto before and will again. The work, "1945-1998" is described by the artist here."This piece of work is a bird's eye view of the history by scaling down a month length of time into one second. No letter is used for equal messaging to all viewers without language barrier. The blinking light, sound and the numbers on the world map show when, where and how many experiments each country have conducted. I created this work for the means of an interface to the people who are yet to know of the extremely grave, but present problem of the world."

This constitutes 2053 nuclear explosions conducted across our planet and does not encompass any activity after 1998 including announced nuclear tests by North Korea.
